Exam: Every new puppy will have an exam at their puppy visit to evaluate its overall health and look for congenital conditions such as heart murmurs, hernias, and malocclusions (over/underbite). Please isolate your new puppy from other pets until we have examined it for any contagious diseases.
Fecal Testing/Deworming: We recommend puppies have their feces checked for parasites (worms). Please bring a stool sample to your first puppy appointment. After obtaining your fecal results, we will go over a deworming program with you.
Vaccinations: All puppies need a series of vaccinations starting at
Heartworm Prevention: Every puppy should be on year-round heartworm prevention. A Heartworm/Lyme test will be performed during the first year based on when the puppy was born.
Spay/Neuter: Every puppy that is not to be used for breeding should be spayed or neutered at 5 to 6 months of age. This decreases the risk of reproductive cancer and disease later in life. It can also decrease aggressiveness, marking, and roaming.
